in-it-to-win-fitHey Everyone! I’m Ari, a 19 year old college student from The Ohio State University. This is my new fitness blog! I’m hoping I can use this as a way to motivate myself, as well as motivate you and meet some amazing people along the way! A little back story: I’ve always tried to be healthy, since the summer before my freshman year of high school, but I was never dedicated or educated until the end of my senior year. The end of my senior year was when I was at my healthiest and most confident! I was on a major health kick.. but unfortunately, it was only a health kick. I ate fairly healthy and worked out nearly every day. But as some of you know… the transition from high school to college can be a bit rough. Not only did I stop eating as healthy and working out often, but I also stopped working at the local gym and picked up twice as many hours at a fast food joint.. I ate fast food and cafeteria food at least five times a week in the first semester, once during the second, and I hit the gym maybe five times the entire year. The Freshman 15 is not a myth, guys. Neither is the Freshman 40.. Yep.. You heard me. I gained FORTY pounds in seven months. I began to feel sluggish and tired and I lost every ounce of motivation in me. But I refuse to make the same mistake my sophomore year. It won’t be easy but it will be so worth it. I’m in it to win fit. Are you?

My cousin just told me that she tries to stay around 20g of carbs per WEEK. That is insane. CARBS ARE NOT BAD. Please don’t deprive yourself of nutrients and energy. I love you all too much to watch you torture yourself like that.

Coaches told Taylor Townsend she was too heavy to succeed — she showed them

An 18-year-old American tennis player beat the No. 1-ranked French player Alize Cornet on her own soil in the second round of the French Open last week. Taylor Townsend, the teenager from Chicago, didn’t just make a powerful statement by beating the No. 22 seed in her debut main draw at a Grand Slam, however. Townsend’s victory sent a message to those who make assumptions or discriminate against female athletes on body image.
